The Rives, the sea and the city... \ Le Rive, il mare e la città....

After the bad weather of these days, in which it was impossible to paint outside, I went out to do some 'sketches and photographs ... The Sea is now crystal clear and reflects the rays of a  strong and secure sun, the air is thin and dry, cleaned for days and days of furious Bora, the strong Trieste's wind... It 'nice to walk along the Rives and reach the Molo Audace, still frozen on the summit: a man comes with two bags of bread and throw it  to the sea gulls.Here, from the tip of the pier, it seems to already be in open sea and behind you lies the beautiful Unità d'Italia square : walking later we welcomed the saloon of the enchantments, building that once housed the traditional fish market ...
At one point I sit down, pull out my brushes and prepare a series of gouaches of catoncino. I paint quickly. casting, before the light dies down: 
when sunset comes,it's  a spectacular view! 

Dopo il cattivo tempo di questi giorni, in cui era impossibile dipingere all'aperto, sono uscito a fare un po' di schizzi e fotografie... Il Mare è ora limpido e cristallino e riflette i raggi di un sole forte e sicuro; l'aria è fine ed asciutta, ripulita da giorni e giorni di Bora furiosa... E' bello passeggiare per le rive e raggiungere il Molo Audace, ancora ghiacciato sulla cima: un signora arriva con due sacchetti di pane e lo lancia in mare ai gabbiani che accorrono numerosi e festanti: qui, dalla punta del Molo sembra già di essere in mare aperto ed alle tue spalle si estende la stupenda piazza dell'Unità d'Italia: passeggiando più avanti ci accoglie il salone degli incanti, costruzione che un tempo ospitava il mercato del pesce...
Ad un certo punto mi siedo, tiro fuori i pennelli e preparo una serie di gouaches su cartoncino. Dipingo in fretta. di getto, prima che la luce si attenui: quando arriva il tramonto è un vero spettacolo!!
